ABSTRACT

The current study gives the formation of cadmium (Cd) doped aluminum (Al) nano chromites by the citrate gel auto-combustion method. Structural, optical and biological activity of the synthesized chromites was performed. Microstructure and morphological analysis of the nano chromites were analyzed by X-ray diffraction (XRD), Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscopy, and Fourier-transform infrared (FTIR) studies. XRD confirms the single-phase cubic spinel structure of the Cd-Al nano chromites. The average crystalline size of the samples 19 nm to 25 nm calculated by Debye Scherrer equation from XRD pattern. FTIR spectrum confirms the metal-oxygen bonds around 400–600 cm−1 wavenumber domain related to the spinel structure. Optical band gap energy ranges from 2.21 eV to 2.96 eV calculated by Tauc plots. Antibacterial activity of the materials performed four bacterial agents, namely, Staphylococcus, Bacillus, Escherichia coli, and
