Abstract

We report the results of our studies on the physical and optical properties of binary mixtures of cholesteryl nonanoate and 4-n′-
pentyl-4′-thiocyanatobiphenyls. Experimentally measured optical anisotropy of refractive indices and helical pitch of liquid
crystalline phases helps to study the molecular band gap structure of different liquid crystalline phases, respectively, at different
temperatures and at different concentrations.
